More than 25 crore employees from banking, insurance, postal, transport, construction and other public sectors are participating in this nationwide strike. The aim of the strike is to register protest against the "anti-labor, anti-farmer and pro-corporate policies" of the government.

Bengal Provincial Bank Employees Association affiliated to AIBEA and many employees of the insurance sector are part of this strike.
