The Gujarat Titans faced a big blow early into their chase against the Delhi Capitals as skipper got out cheaply in the powerplay during GT vs DC clash in Match 35 of IPL 2025. The GT skipper's wicket came as one of the most disappointing ways to get out, especially in a high-scoring chase against table-toppers Delhi Capitals at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Shubman Gill had faced five deliveries before his dismissal, which involved some sloppy running between the wickets. The star batter tried to take a quick single by clipping the ball off his pads to mid-wicket, only to be denied by his opening partner Sai Sudharsan. In the end, all it took was a brilliant direct hit from to see the back of the IPL 2023 Orange Cap winner, who could only manage to score seven runs in the end. Shubman was not even in the frame as television replay confirmed him being short of his ground.

This was an important wicket for the Capitals, knowing that Gill has the ability to change the game if he continues to remain at the crease. Speaking of Karun Nair, this was not the only contribution from him. Nair opened the batting in the game and played a decent cameo of 31 off just 18 deliveries. Though he was eventually dismissed by Prasidh Krishna, his knock still played a crucial role in getting the perfect start for the visitors.

Despite Gill's unfortunate wicket, the Titans who are currently 67-1 in 6 overs as of writing with leading run scorer Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler at the crease who have continued to take the attack to the DC bowlers. It has been a great powerplay for them so far and the fans at the Motera will be hoping they take them closer to the total with batters like Sherfane Rutherford and Shahrukh Khan to follow.
