Bengaluru weather yellow alert: Rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds forecast across Karnataka this week

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Karnataka, as the state is expected to experience bad weather until 15 May. Thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and strong winds are predicted, with Bengaluru and several other regions likely to be affected.
Bengaluru Weather Warnings
Bengaluru is expected to see partly cloudy skies with light to moderate rain or thunderstorms every day during this period. The weather may change quickly in the afternoons and evenings, with wind speeds reaching 30–40 km/h, and gusts possibly going up to 50 km/h.

People in Bengaluru are being asked to stay indoors during thunderstorms, avoid travelling unless necessary, and secure items like flowerpots, banners, and hoardings that may be blown away by strong winds.

Alert Across the Karnataka
The yellow alert is for many parts of Karnataka including coastal areas, as well as northern and southern interior regions. The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) has also warned of widespread rainfall and scattered thunderstorms.

In addition to Karnataka, other southern states and union territories, including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry, and Lakshadweep, are also expected to experience moderate rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds this week.
