Shardiya Navratri 2025: In Hinduism, the festival of Navratri is celebrated with great devotion and faith. During Chaitra and Sharadiya Navratri, Goddess Durga and her nine forms are worshipped. The sacred festival of Sharadiya Navratri is underway. This year, the festival is considered special because it lasts for ten days instead of nine. This year, Durga Ashtami will fall on September 30th, and Navami will conclude on October 1st. Both days of Navratri hold immense significance. Ashtami is considered the most auspicious day to worship Goddess Durga. Some people break their fast on Ashtami, while others break it on Navami. This is why people often get confused about when to break their fast.

Take precautions when breaking the fast.
If you want to break your fast on Durga Ashtami, never do it in a hurry. The scriptures clearly state that only by following the correct method can you reap the full benefits of the fast. It is considered inappropriate to break the fast after 12 o'clock on the night of Ashtami.
If someone has observed a fast for the entire nine days, they should break the fast only after performing the Navami puja ritual. Performing Kanya Pujan (worshipping girls) and feeding young girls is considered auspicious on this occasion. It is also necessary to give them gifts or Dakshina (offerings of gifts) after the puja. It is considered appropriate to eat only sattvik and light food after breaking the fast.

What to Keep in Mind
It is extremely important to follow certain rules during Navratri. Leather items should never be kept at the place of worship, nor should they be used during the puja. Even during the Parana (breaking of the fast), leather items such as purses and belts should not be carried or worn.
Furthermore, one should refrain from negative activities throughout this festival. Lying, insulting others, or indulging in bad habits are prohibited. Especially on Ashtami and Navami, one should be especially careful not to hurt anyone's feelings.
