Pilibhit: Hundreds of acres of farmland in Pilibhit's Bilsanda area have been submerged for four days following a breach in the Nigohi Branch Canal of the Sharda Sagar section. The continuous flooding has severely affected more than six villages, including Badhepura, Hemupura, and Pasgawan.
Farmers, including Udyam Singh, reported the breach to officials immediately but received no timely response. The officials who did visit the site allegedly performed a cursory inspection and left. As a result of this negligence, crops like maize, sugarcane, and paddy have been completely destroyed, causing huge losses for the farmers.
The affected villagers are demanding immediate repair of the canal, a system to drain the floodwaters, and financial compensation for their ruined crops. They are accusing the irrigation department of gross negligence, which they say turned a manageable situation into a crisis.
UP CM Yogi Adityanath Launches 87 Projects In Moradabad, Focus On Education & InfrastructureSDM Bisalpur Nagendra Pandey has acknowledged the issue, stating that a team of officials is on-site to oversee the repair work. However, the farmers, frustrated by the delay, have warned they will protest if action is not taken quickly.
