The state government has decided to set up a permanent mechanism through a standing committee on the health sector, which will be an advisory body for policies on health and technology related to the sector.
The 27-member ‘State Health Policy and Technical Advisory Committee' will have the director for Public Health as the convenor with members such as the director for medical education, three members from the pool of the district collectors, commissioners of municipal corporations and chief executive officers of Zilla Parishads.
It will also have representation from doctors, allied health professionals, experts from the field of medical education and public health, ICMR, Indian Public Health Association, community organisations, a nominee of the WHO, Indian Medical Association, etc.
