Khopoli Police arrested six burglars involved in a theft at a shop in Takai Phata and recovered the entire stolen property and vehicles used in the crime, with a total recovery worth over Rs. 8.1 lakh.
The burglary took place in the early hours of July 3 between 2:00 AM and 3:00 AM, when a group of unknown persons broke into a shop owned by Ramchandra Bhik Raskar in Takai Phata, Khopoli, by entering through an open rear window. The thieves stole Polycab electric cables valued at approximately Rs. 3.2 lakh. A case was registered the same day at Khopoli Police Station, under Sections 305(a) and 35 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
Following instructions from Superintendent of Police Aanchal Dalal, the investigation was led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Vikram Kadam and undertaken by PSI Abhijit Vharamble and his crime detection team. The police scrutinised CCTV footage from around 20 locations near the crime scene and used mobile phone data analysis to track down the suspects. One of the vehicles used—a Bajaj autorickshaw bearing registration MH-04/LX-1846—was traced and led to the first arrest.
On July 4, Zuber Ehsan Shaikh, a 34-year-old native of Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, currently residing in Loj, Khalapur, Raigad, was arrested. "His interrogation revealed the names and hideouts of his accomplices. While the suspects initially fled from a shop in Pimpri-Chinchwad, we tracked them across Pune, Nashik, and Gujarat," a police officer said.
With the assistance of Ankleshwar Police and their local crime branch, three more accused were arrested. Another suspect was detained from Kalyan-Shilphata. During questioning, the accused revealed they had sold the stolen materials to Siraujuddin Ibaratulla Khan, who was subsequently arrested from Chikhli, Pune, with all the stolen items in his possession
The six arrested accused are Zuber Ehsan Shaikh, Alam Yusuf Maniyar, Deepak Kapildev Tiwari, Ramvilas Chiknu Yadav, Zuber Bahab Memon, and Siraujuddin Ibaratulla Khan. All of them have criminal records involving theft, housebreaking, and robbery at various police stations.
The recovered stolen goods include 55 bundles of FR Panel 2.5-gauge wire worth Rs. 1,65,000, six bundles of flexible 2.5-gauge wire worth Rs. 60,000, 30 boxes of copper lugs valued at Rs. 30,000, five bundles of FR Panel 1.5 sq mm cable worth Rs. 5,500, six bundles of FR Panel 4 sq mm cable worth Rs. 24,000, and four bundles of FR Panel 6 sq mm cable worth Rs. 22,000. Additionally, a PLC controller valued at Rs. 8,000 and ten PLC programming cables worth Rs. 6,000 were seized, bringing the total value of stolen material to Rs. 3,20,500.

Notably, the autorickshaw was previously reported stolen and is linked to another case (FIR No. 403/2024) at Kasegaon Police Station, Mira-Bhayandar. The total value of seized vehicles is Rs. 4,90,000.
The overall recovery, including stolen property and vehicles, totals Rs. 8,10,500.
The operation was executed under the guidance of SP Aanchal Dalal, Additional SP Abhijeet Shivthare, and DySP Vikram Kadam. Investigating officers from Khopoli Police Station included PI Sachin Hire, PSI Abhijit Vharamble, and constables Amit Sawant, Sandeep Chavan, Nilesh Kamble, Limbaji Shedge, Sameer Pawar, Rama Masal, Kiran Devkate, Pranit Kalamkar, and Akash Dongre.
