Mumbai: Businessman Raj Kundra has approached the Bombay High Court seeking quashing of the Look Out Circular issued against him for his alleged role in the pornographic film racket case.
Kundra approached the HC against the LOC, which is pending since 2021, contending that every time he travels outside India, he has to undergo unwarranted hardship and scrutiny. Also, he has to spend long hours waiting at the immigration office.
His plea contends that he has travelled overseas on at least 20 occasions after his arrest and subsequent bail. Each time, his plea states, he was permitted by the lower court to travel and that he has abided by all the conditions imposed on him.
Raj Kundra and other well-known female models were booked for allegedly making pornographic content and circulating it on over-the-top (OTT) platforms for financial consideration. The porn film racket case came to light following a raid at a Madh Island bungalow in February 2021.
According to the chargesheet filed by Maharashtra Cyber Police, Kundra, the director of Armsprime Media Ltd, was engaged in producing and distributing obscene videos on certain websites. His company aided and abetted the crime as it derived financial benefits from all the other co-accused, said the police.
During searches, the police seized a laptop from the office of Kundra in which 68 porn videos were recovered, the prosecution claimed. He was arrested on July 19 and spent over two months in custody before getting bail from the Supreme Court.
