Tamil actor Srikanth aka Sriram, who was arrested on Monday (June 23) by Chennai Police in connection with a narcotics case, has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days. Srikanth's arrest came after the detention of T Prasad, a member of the AIADMK IT wing, who is suspected of providing drugs to the actor.

According to ANI, Srikanth was produced before a Magistrate in Egmore on Monday and he has been remanded to judicial custody until July 7, 2025. The 46-year-old actor was earlier taken to Chennai's Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for a medical examination as part of the investigation procedure.
Srikanth was reportedly brought to the Nungambakkam Police Station on Monday afternoon and he was questioned for more than nine hours in connection with the case. During this period, a blood sample was taken and tested, confirming the presence of the narcotic substance in his system.
The actor has been accused of buying cocaine worth Rs 12,000.

According to a report in NDTV, investigators have obtained documentary evidence linking the actor to the purchase and use of cocaine. Authorities have also traced a digital money trail, reportedly confirming financial transactions related to drug procurement.
"Evidence includes chat records, financial transfers, and phone data that establish a clear pattern of contact with drug suppliers," a senior officer told the portal. Police are also probing Srikanth's possible connections with known members of a drug cartel operating within and beyond Tamil Nadu.
Srikanth and T Prasad's connection
Prasad, a member of the AIADMK IT wing, was previously arrested in connection with a brawl at a private bar in Nungambakkam. He is alleged to have supplied banned narcotics, including cocaine, to Srikanth.
Reports suggest that Srikanth purchased the cocaine from Prasad during a party linked to the film Theekirai. Notably, the film is co-produced by Prasad, with Srikanth playing the lead role.

Srikanth began his acting journey in 1999 with the Tamil television serial Jannal – Marabu Kavithaigal, directed by K Balachander. He transitioned to the big screen in 2002 with his Tamil film debut Roja Kootam, which brought him recognition.
Born as Krishnamachari Srikanth in 1979, he has established himself as a prominent figure in the South Indian film industry, appearing in both Tamil and Telugu films.
Over the years, Srikanth has starred in several films including April Maadhathil, Manasellam, Kana Kandein, Oru Naal Kanavu, and Parthiban Kanavu. He also featured in the web series Harikatha.
Most recently, Srikanth appeared in the Tamil film Konjam Kadhal Konjam Modhal, which hit theatres in March 2025. He married Vandana in 2008, and the couple has two children.
