Arsenal are closing in on a deal for Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera. And that is set to push Arsenal's summer spending past the £200m mark with SIX players likely to arrive before the Gunners jet off on their pre-season tour of Asia on Saturday, July 19.
They hope to complete a deal for Viktor Gyokeres in the coming days while Noni Madueke has completed his medical ahead of a transfer announcement.
Versatile Spain under-21 international Mosquera, 21, who can play as a right back or centre back, has agreed personal terms with Arsenal pushing to complete a deal worth around £20m. Mosquera played in 37 of Valencia’s 38 games last season and is seen as important competition and back-up for Arsenal’s defence.
It has been a remarkable few days for Arsenal’s sporting director Andrea Berta who has got deals done with the club also closing in on a raft of deals. They made significant progress on Gyokeres over the past 48 hours as the Sweden international failed to return to pre-season training with Sporting Lisbon to force through a move to Arsenal.

Arsenal have now gone back with an improved offer and terms which will also see Gyokeres’ agent get a vastly reduced fee. Sporting had demanded in excess of £60m with add-ons and Gyokeres are now close to getting the deal over the line.
That will be a huge signing for Arsenal as former Brighton and Coventry striker Gyokeres, 27, has scored goals in the Champions League and hit 97 goals in 102 appearances for Sporting.
Arsenal have already signed Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad for £51m, Christian Norgaard has joined from Brentford in a deal worth £15m and Kepa Arrizabalaga arrived from Chelsea for £5m.
Madueke, 23, flew back from Chelsea’s Club World Cup campaign to complete a move and his arrival has divided opinion among Arsenal fans. But Madueke is seen as a prospect who can improve and add valuable back-up and competition.
They are also hoping to make progress on Ethan Nwaneri’s contract which only has a year to run and the teenager is a huge prospect.
Arsenal may have to sell before they can do anything else after having talks with Crystal Palace ’s Eberechi Eze while any move for Real Madrid ’s Rodrygo looks very ambitious now.
There has been strong interest from Saudi Arabia and Turkey in Leandro Trossard while the likes of Oleksandr Zinchenko can go. They also agreed to terminate Takehiro Tomiyasu’s contract which is another key reason behind Mosquera’s arrival.
