He was reportedly kicked and punched in the head in the town's bar and nightclub area at around 3am on Saturday morning. Emergency services rushed to the scene and attempted to revive the man, who reportedly suffered severe head injuries, before he was taken to Lagos Hospital - where he was unfortunately pronounced dead. Paramedics, firefighters and officers from Portugal’s PSP police force responded to the emergency call.
Local police said they are currently talking to a Portuguese suspect, in relation to the case, but added they had not be officially arrested.
