Daniel Dubois was on the brink of losing his cool when quizzed about his initial bout with Oleksandr Usyk.
The heavyweight stars are gearing up for a rematch at Wembley Stadium this Saturday night, with Usyk eyeing a decisive 2-0 closure to their rivalry. Dubois, on the other hand, is desperate for revenge and the chance to be the first fighter to topple the Ukrainian in professional boxing.
Their first encounter in 2023 saw Usyk triumph in the ninth round, not without controversy after Dubois floored him with a body shot that was controversially deemed below the belt, much to Team Dubois' frustration.
Usyk concluded the dust-up with a sharp jab and recently, during a tense face-off with his upcoming foe, told : "No. It is no surprise to me because my jab was hard."

Darren Barker, the interviewer, then probed Dubois about the 'hard jab,' prompting a visibly irked Dubois to reply: "I do not even want to go there! We are talking about ****... that is in the past and gone because I do not know what you are trying to... I know what you are doing, you are doing your job, but I am looking forward to causing chaos in the ring on Saturday and that is my game and priority", reports All Out Fighting.
The chat swiftly turned to Dubois' blistering recent streak of victories. After suffering defeat to Usyk in 2023, 'Triple D' has been absolutely unstoppable, steamrolling past Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic and Anthony Joshua. The wins over the three aforementioned names have put the Brit's name on the map and is now regarded as one of the biggest heavyweight stars on the planet.
Quizzed about his current run of form, the 27-year-old said: "Hunger and desire and as a fighter, you just want to become the best. So that and the team I have around me... my dad and that inner circle kept me strong and here I am today." Dubois' confidence is clearly through the roof as he admits he has change massively since the first meeting. "I have moved past. I have resurrected myself and I feel like a new, ready fighter. I am ready for anyone in the world," he said.
Over the years, the British heavyweight champion has been accused of quitting his fights when the going gets tough. In an previous interview with DAZN, when asked whether Dubois has any weaknesses, Usyk said: "Little bit yes. Little bit because maybe it is a younger guy. Maybe... I do not know. But Daniel is a little bit afraid. I am too, but my afraid is different."
