A young Brit who was held "in horrendous conditions" in the for three weeks amid savage has today warned others not to visit the .
Rebecca Burke, 28, only came home last month following an ordeal which started when officials handcuffed her at the US-Canada border. She had tried to cross into the US state of Washington from Canada when she was refused entry. Canadian authorities told her to go back to the US and fill in new paperwork before returning.
But when she tried to re-enter the US, the graphic artist was apprehended and put in a cell before being taken to the Tacoma Northwest detention facility. Her father, Paul Burke, had said she had been "in horrendous conditions" in the facility, one of the largest detention centres in the US and where overcrowding is frequently reported.
Speaking about her experience, Rebecca, from Monmouthshire, southeast Wales, warned Brits not to travel to the US, saying: "First, because of the danger of what could happen to you. And, secondly, do you really want to give your money to this country right now?"

This month, to warn British travellers they face being arrested or detained if they break entry rules. The states: "You should comply with all entry, visa and other conditions of entry. The authorities in the U.S. set and enforce entry rules strictly. You may be liable to arrest or detention if you break the rules."
But the US welcomes millions of tourists every year, many of whom consider the trip once-in-a-lifetime holidays. Since Mr Trump returned to power though, US border agents have been ordered to enforce all rules strictly and Rebecca, who was backpacking, came a cropper. She allegedly having the wrong type of visa when she tried to enter the US.

Rebecca, an artist, had already been staying with families in the US in return for carrying out household chores, and had a similar arrangement in Canada with a family awaiting her arrival in Vancouver.
But she ended up wearing an orange prison uniform and sleeping in a dormitory with more than 100 people at the Tacoma Northwest detention facility in Washington. The young woman would spend nearly three weeks behind bars more than 5,000 miles from home, surviving on a diet of cold rice, potatoes and beans, before being released after desperate appeals from her family.
And this week she told that the documents she signed in the US mean she is now banned from going back for the next ten years.
The UK Foreign Office's change of advice mirrors tips issued by other European countries, with Germany recently warning citizens that just having a visa or entry waiver - also known as an ESTA - does not mean you will automatically be allowed to enter the US.
