Amy Dowden has broken her silence after losing out on a National Television Award for her documentary, Strictly Amy: Cancer and Me. The Strictly Come Dancing professional was nominated in the Authored Documentary category and was up against the late Rob Burrows, Molly Mae Hague, Freddie Flintoff, and Boyzone for their deeply personal accounts. However, in an unexpected turn, Amy's moving, detailed journey about living with the gruelling disease lost out to the former Love Island star turned businesswoman. As Molly took to the stage at the star-studded event, fans quickly took to social media with fury and claimed Amy had been "robbed" of the gong she "deserved," although the annual night of recognition is a public-voted event.

Just hours later, Amy took to Instagram with a gracious post about not taking home the trophy and instead congratulating Molly on her accomplishment and thanking those who worked with her on the documentary. The 35-year-old penned: "Huge congratulations to Molly Mae on your NTA win. It's been an honour to be nominated alongside such powerful and inspiring documentaries." Amy continued: "I'm incredibly proud to have been nominated for my documentary, Strictly Amy: Cancer and Me.

"When I made the deeply personal decision to share my breast cancer journey, it was to raise awareness, promote early detection, and give hope and strength to others going through it. An NTA was just the icing on a cake."

Amy added: "Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who voted and supported the documentary. Your messages, love and encouragement mean the world to me. I promise to keep using my voice to raise awareness, support others and shine a light on the reality of breast cancer."

The dancer was inundated with heartwarming messages of support from fans, one of whom remarked, "You've already made such an impact, and that's the real victory."

A second added: "You or Rob should definitely have won. Your documentary was so emotional and informative and has helped me through my own journey with breast cancer! I'm sorry but Mollie did not deserve to win, you are my inspiration."

Another added: "Just by making that documentary, sharing your story and helping others, you've won."

Amy's celebrity pals were also among the fans in the comments as podcaster Giovanna Fletcher praised: "You beauty!!!!! I hope you know how much you have impacted so many people's lives and will continue to do so. Forever grateful and in awe. Love you!"

Strictly star Tom Skinner commented: "Amy you are an absolute legend and an inspiration to so so many. Always a winner."

Molly's docuseries recounted her and boxer Tommy Fury's romance, which played out on ITV's dating series, Love Island, before welcoming their daughter Bambi and getting engaged.

As well as the highs of her career and business opportunities, it also documented the couple's fallout and break-up, which is said to have ended Tommy's excessive drinking. The pair have since reconciled and are working on their relationship.
