Arsenal 'to respond' to £19m Leandro Trossard transfer bid as Mikel Arteta faces decision

Arsenal's Leandro Trossard has reportedly attracted a bid, despite the transfer window being closed in England. The market is still open in some European countries, with some clubs showing interest in Trossard including from Turkey, with teams there having until Friday September 12 to finalise their signings.

Mikel Arteta bolstered his squad with eight new faces this summer, as the Gunners aim to clinch a major trophy this season. Eberechi Eze, Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Zubimendi, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Norgaard, Noni Madueke, Piero Hincapie and Kepa Arrizabalaga all made the switch to the Emirates Stadium during the transfer window.

With these fresh arrivals, questions have been raised about Trossard's future at the club. Seven players exited the club over the summer, with only Fabio Vieira and Karl Hein departing on loan.

Turkish publication Sozcu reports that Besiktas have shown interest in Trossard and have submitted a £19million (€22m) offer. Negotiations are said to be underway between the two clubs, with Arsenal's response anticipated shortly.

Trossard was linked with a move to Fenerbahce over the summer amid rumours that Jose Mourinho was keen on signing him. However, the Portuguese manager has since left his post.

But, football.london have claimed that Trossard is set to pen a new contract at the Emirates. Following a summer of speculation, he is expected to agree improved terms on his current deal, which is due to expire in 2027.

Arsenal have been in negotiations with the player's agents since the summer kicked off. Arteta has expressed satisfaction with Trossard's impressive tally of 27 goals and 13 assists over the last two campaigns.

His enhanced pay packet now mirrors his significant contributions and his role in the squad, aligning him with peers of comparable experience and value. Despite Trossard approaching his 31st birthday in December, some fans have scrutinised the choice to extend his contract, especially with Arsenal eyeing a new left winger this transfer window.

"That situation has been resolved in a really great way and I think he deserves recognition, and we are very happy to have him," Arteta remarked previously.
