Trinity Rodman has spoken out to set the record straight after a trip to London left her feeling misidentified and overshadowed by mentions of her estranged father during Wimbledon, where she was supporting her boyfriend, Ben Shelton. The USWNT and Washington Spirit star was at Wimbledon to cheer on Shelton, the world's No.10 player, during his third-round victory over Marton Fucsovic. However, the BBC coverage repeatedly mentioned her father, basketball icon Dennis Rodman, much to Trinity's frustration.
"For those who don't know... my name is TRINITY, not Tiffany," she stated in an Instagram story to her 598k followers. "Also, for Ben's matches, he has his family there as his support system, which includes his dad. My dad's not even in MY life. No need to bring him up during HIS matches when I don't even want him talked about during mine. It's his and his loved ones' moment. Thank you."
Her comments followed BBC commentator Andrew Castle's on-air blunder where he called her Tiffany multiple times and veered off into stories about her father. Castle praised Dennis Rodman as "one of the greatest sportsmen of all time," and referred to him as "the biggest wind-up merchant of all time."
He also recalled Rodman's fierce defence against Michael Jordan while with the Detroit Pistons before joining Jordan to secure championships with the Chicago Bulls.
Shelton is currently making waves at Wimbledon, having reached the quarter-finals for the first time in his career.
His family, particularly his sister Emma, were a constant presence during his match. Emma had taken time off work to support her brother after he publicly appealed to her employer.
Both Trinity and Emma were seen cheering together multiple times, holding hands in support of the American player.

While many spectators may have appreciated the NBA nostalgia, Trinity has previously spoken candidly about her difficult relationship with her father.
She claimed that her father battled with alcoholism and stated, "He's not a dad. Maybe by blood, but nothing else," during an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast.
Trinity admitted to witnessing her father mistreat her mother during her childhood. Despite the pain he caused her and her brother DJ, they were committed to protecting the reputation of the basketball Hall of Famer.
She recalled feeling upset when her father unexpectedly attended a Spirit game during her first professional season, with her mother also unaware of his plans to be there.
The Spirit player was unsettled upon hearing his voice shouting: "Let's go, Rodman, let's go Trinity."
After the match, Trinity disclosed that he had hoped to "see her soon" once the game was over, but she dodged any further conversation until after the next World Cup, a whole four years later.
