Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom has called time on their nine-year romance - six years after the Lord of the Rings star got down on one knee. The couple's representatives confirmed:" Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on coparenting. They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is - and always will be - raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect."
Before the official announcement, an insider informed the Mirror of their amicable split, announcing: "Katy and Orlando have split but are amicable. It's not contentious at the moment. Katy is of course upset but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her lie."
Hints that their relationship was in decline first appeared on Orlando's Instagram stories on Wednesday (July 2), where he shared a poignant message from Carl Gustav Jung.
It read: "Loneliness does not come from having no people about one, but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important to oneself."
It came shortly after he shared a cryptic post quoting the Buddha on June 30, which read: "Each day is a new beginning. What we do today is what matters most."
However, signs of a separation were evident in Orlando's posts before the official statement after he attended Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez's wedding alone. It is understoodtour duties kept Katy from attended the star-studded celebration.
Days before, the 40-year-old musical delivered a heartbreaking performance in Adelaide, Australia on June 30. Katy broke down on stage as she wrapped up her set, fighting back tears as she created a heart sign with her hands to express her love and adoration for her fans in the crown.
Grateful for their unwavering support, she told the audience after regaining her composure: "Thank you for always being there for me, Australia. It means the world."
Katy and Orlando's love story first blossomed back in 2016, although the pair took a brief hiatus one year later before rekindling the flames in 2018. The power couple quickly got engaged one year later and embraced parenthood with the arrival of Daisy Dove in 2020.
The split follows Katy's departure from American Idol after a seven-season stint, as she continues to shift her focus onto her new music. Her latest album sparked controversy due to her decision to collaborate with Dr. Luke following his scandal with Ke$ha.
Adding to the backlash, Katy faced criticism for participating in a Blue Origin space mission alongside five other women, drawing ire from multiple sources.
