Manchester United are yet to oversee a major player sale in a summer transfer window where such deals are essential for Ruben Amorim's rebuild. However, Napoli could be about to offer the Red Devils the opportunity to cash in on one of several outcasts after reportedly locking onto Alejandro Garnacho.
The Serie A champions were strongly interested in signing Garnacho in the January transfer window but United rejected their only bid, thought to be worth £35million. On the back of winning a second Scudetto in three years, Antonio Conte appears ready to reignite his pursuit of the 21-year-old winger.
According to the Mirror, Napoli are hoping to seal a deal worth £45m to sign Garnacho this summer amid rival interest from the Premier League.
It is claimed that the Argentine starlet's preference is to remain in England, with Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Chelsea touted as suitors.
But Napoli represents an attractive destination, with the prospect of challenging for domestic honours and playing in the Champions League on offer.
Scott McTominay has been a roaring success in Naples since leaving United in a £25m transfer last summer, already earning icon status among supporters.
Garnacho could have the same effect if he follows the Scotsman and continues the upwards trajectory in his goal contributions since establishing himself in senior football.
Should United want more money to part ways with their No. 17, Napoli could have a secret weapon that could see both clubs getting what they desire.
Frank Anguissa is being linked with a departure this summer after negotiations over a new Napoli contract recently stalled.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Napoli have slapped a £17m price tag on the 29-year-old midfielder's head as Conte prepares to part ways.
Amorim is thought to want to bolster his midfield once United finally strike a deal for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo.
The Red Devils need an energetic partner who can cover serious ground alongside captain Bruno Fernandes to make Amorim's 3-4-3 system tick.
Anguissa could pose as an attractive option if Napoli make him available as part of a potential agreement for Garnacho, given United will be out of funds after Mbeumo's planned arrival.
That said, the M16 giants will hope that they can generate cash from also offloading Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia in the coming weeks.
