The Prince and Princess of Wales are reportedly considering a move to a huge new home. Prince William and Princess Kate have lived at Adelaide Cottage at Windsor Castle with their three children since 2022.
Royal sources said that the family could be leaving the four-bed for Fort Belvedere, where Edward VIII lived before and after his abdication. It was in the eight-bed house that he signed the abdication papers in 1936. Fort Belvedere is a Gothic Revival mansion in Windsor Great Park with a rose garden, walled garden, kitchen garden, large greenhouse, outdoor swimming pool, tennis court, stables, two lakes, paddocks, and three cottages for staff.
A source told the Mail: "They feel they have outgrown Adelaide Cottage and need somewhere more substantial. This is the perfect new home for them. It has a swimming pool and tennis court, and Charlotte loves playing tennis."
The Wales family has previously been said to be considering a move to Royal Lodge in Windsor, but Prince Andrew currently resides there and reportedly resists pressure to leave. There was also talk of them moving into a wing of Windsor Castle itself.
While Adelaide Cottage is the Wales' primary residence, they have their 'official' residence at Kensington Palace in London, where they work from. William and Kate reportedly left to give their children a more 'normal' upbringing.
The family also has a country residence at Anmer Hall on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk. A wedding gift from the Queen, the Wales' use this as a place of retreat, spending most of the pandemic there.
They also have Tam-Na-Gar on the Balmoral Estate in Scotland, which was gifted to William by the Queen Mother in 2002. It is reportedly close to King Charles' Balmoral home Birkhall.
Llwynywermod is William and Kate's residence in Carmarthenshire, Wales. It is part of the Duchy of Cornwall and was purchased by the King when he was Prince of Wales.
