Have you been scrambling your eggs wrong? Could your method be elevated? TikTok creator SavourySecrets4 has shared their healthy recipe, claiming: "I don't fry anymore!" Sharing the recipe shared with them by a friend from China, the creator claims their perfect eggs can be made completely oil-free.
Accumulating 1.7million views, the account, which caters to more than 5,000 followers, presents a range of dishes, specialising in its namesake - savoury recipes. Proving a controversy in its comments section, many viewers were quick to share their disbelief at the method, which appeared to create a large bowl of thick and fluffy scrambled eggs ready to eat.
The cook said: "First crack five eggs into a bowl, add a pinch of salt and pepper, and a spoon of chopped green [spring] onions." Once properly mixed, the creator opted for chopsticks; however, a whisk or fork would work just as well. She instructed viewers to bring a pot of water to a boil. The video continued, beginning to resemble poaching methods rather than scrambling.
"Pour the eggs in gently and don't stir," said Savoury Secrets, placing the entire mixture into the hot water and leaving it to boil slowly. Once they sit at the bottom [of the pan], move them with a spatula to keep them from sticking," she adds, carefully stirring the mix with back-and-forth movements. She then tells people to continue until fully cooked.
Switching to a clip of the mix forming solid clumps, the cook then said, "Break them into pieces, turn up the heat, and let the broth reduce." As the remaining water evaporates, she says you will be left with the fluffiest scrambled eggs that are "so simple and healthy " and need hardly any clean-up.
One commentator pointed out the recipe's inclusivity, which didn't include cream or milk, making it perfect for lactose-intolerant egg lovers.
