The arrests were made by a team from Vartak Nagar Police Station in connection with a chain-snatching case reported on March 12 in Yashodhan Nagar, where a 56-year-old woman was targeted. The suspects fled the scene on a motorcycle after committing the crime, said a police officer.

Their modus was to identify the target and while the target is alone on the road , adjust themselves on a bike and in a high speed snatch the chain and flee away, said a senior police official.

During the investigation, police tracked the suspects using technical surveillance. Upon arrest, gold ornaments worth Rs 3.90 lakh, two motorcycles worth Rs 1.20 lakh, and mobile phones worth Rs 15,000 were recovered.

The accused confessed to their involvement in at least seven chain-snatching cases and admitted to eight additional offences, taking the total number of cases solved to 15.

Police officers confirmed that the arrests helped crack cases registered across Vartak Nagar, Chitalsar, Kalwa, Navghar, and Khadakpada police stations. Further investigation is ongoing into the case.
