Apple is preparing to announce multiple product updates featuring its next-generation M5 chip this week, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman in his Power On newsletter. The company will refresh its iPad Pro , Vision Pro headset, and entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro through online press releases rather than a traditional launch event.
The new iPad Pro has already been leaked
The M5 iPad Pro is Apple’s flagship tablet, with leaked Russian unboxing videos already revealing the device's specifications. Geekbench 6 benchmarks show the M5 chip delivering up to 12% faster multi-core CPU performance and 36% faster GPU performance compared to the current M4 model. The new tablet will feature a minimum of 12GB RAM and removes the "iPad Pro" text from its back panel, though no major design changes are expected.
Vision Pro expected to get performance boost and comfort upgrade
The Vision Pro refresh will include the M5 chip alongside improved comfort features. Apple plans to bundle a new "Dual Knit Band " head strap with the updated headset and may introduce a Space Black color option. However, Gurman notes the upgrades may not be substantial enough to qualify as a second-generation model, particularly as Apple has reportedly suspended development of both a next-generation Vision Pro and a lower-cost " Vision Air " variant to focus on smart glasses technology.
MacBook Pro said to launch with the vanilla M5 chip
The base 14-inch MacBook Pro is "ready for launch" with the M5 chip, though higher-end models featuring M5 Pro and M5 Max chips won't arrive until early 2026. Apple stores are already experiencing inventory shortages of M4 base models while maintaining normal stock levels of higher-tier configurations, typically signaling an imminent product refresh.
With Monday being Columbus Day in the United States, announcements may begin Tuesday or later in the week.
Additional products including updated AirTag, HomePod mini, and Apple TV models remain on Apple's roadmap for future release.
